Philadelphia Main Line Real Estate, The Main Line Area and Community Information

Originally settled by Quakers who bought 5000 acres of land outside of Philadelphia from William Penn, the Philadelphia Main Line section runs from Philadelphia in the west to Valley Forge in the east. It was here that several Revolutionary War battles were fought.

The Main Line flourished as a suburban community when the "main line" of the Pennsylvania Railroad was built. The Main Line's construction was meant to ease the commute of businessmen, but it also succeeded in bringing commerce and growth to the area. Additionally, the private Villanova University in the Radnor Township real estate area has been a major focal point of the area since 1842. Villanova maintains a consistently high rank as a Master's Degree university by the U.S. News and World Report.

Park and Recreation:

The Main line offers many parks and recreation spaces for its residents. Most notably, the Valley Forge National Historical Park lies near the best Tredyffrin Township real estate. The park's open, rolling hills are a reminder of the hardships endured by George Washington's army. Valley Forge is also home to a variety of museums, shops, and daily events.

Haverford Township real estate offers a more community-based park experience, with Haverford Township boasting access to the Community Park at Haverford Reserve. This park is home to hiking trails, playgrounds, sports fields, and a community recreation and environmental center.

Attractions and Activities:

Nearby, Easttown Township's real estate has access to the King of Prussia Mall, the second largest mall in the United States. The King of Prussia Mall has over 400 stores in two buildings, including notable retailers such as Nordstrom, Macy's, Bloomingdales, and Neiman Marcus.

The area of Philadelphia Main Line real estate is graced by several locally owned and operated wineries. The Brandywine Valley Wine Trail of Chester County consists of at least 7 unique wineries along the idyllic Brandywine River. Only a short drive from the Lower Merion Township real estate section, the Brandywine River Valley has an abundance of top notch golf, antique shops, restaurants, and museums.

Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square is a lush and lavish place for any event, featuring 1200 square acres of beautifully maintained flora and a seasonally changing theme.

The People's Light and Theatre Company has been producing high quality theatre shows in Malvern, PA since 1979. The company produces 7-9 shows per year for the residents of the Main Line and the surrounding counties.
